Cyclist paradise Hochpustertal

With the bicycle to one of the most diversified mountain bike regions of the Alps: Tracks of all difficulties lead to all directions through shadowy woods, to sunny mountain pastures or to mountain pathways and –passes in the Dolomites. This way you will constantly see permanently changing and very beautiful landscapes while riding your mountain bike. Go from Innichen/Vierschach to the Hochpustertal by bike!

Here you can find a few selected mountain bike tours, which we especially would like to recommend to you:

VIERSCHACH - LIENZ & BACK TO INNICHEN BY TRAIN

Total distance: 40 km – altitude difference: 600 m (downhill)
difficulty: 2 (1-5) – ride time: about 2.5 hours (without breaks)

This track starts at the Hotel Löwe via the cyclist path (which is located directly next to the hotel!) and leads slightly downhill to Lienz in Austria. The whole track is covered by its own cyclist path, which mostly leads alongside the river Drau and which is very well signposted. A map is normally not required. There are several rest stops alongside the track and the train schedules for the train ride back to Innichen can be found at the train station. The way from Innichen back to Vierschach via the cyclist path is 3 km long.

DOLOMITES BIKE - TOBLACHER LAKE

Total distance: 45 km – altitude difference: 600 m
difficulty: 2 (1-5) – ride time: about 3 hours (without breaks)

This track leads from the Hotel Löwe via the cyclist path to Innichen and then continues on a small forest track (directly at the edge of the forest) to Toblach, passing the source of the river Drau on the way, and on the old railway route to the Toblacher lake. From there the old railway route leads to Schluderbach, where you pass the Dürrensee (lake) and the Drei Zinnen view. You drive back on the same way to Toblach, take the cyclist path to Innichen and then you drive 3 km to Vierschach until you reach the Hotel Löwe

VIERSCHACH - BRUNECK & BACK TO INNICHEN BY TRAIN

Total distance: 40 km – altitude difference: 400 m (downhill)
difficulty: 2 (1-5) – ride time: about 2.5 hours (without breaks)

This track leads from the Hotel Löwe via the cyclist path to Innichen and then continues on the cyclist path to Westen - Bruneck. The track is well signposted (no map required) and leads to Bruneck alongside the small towns/villages Toblach, Niederdorf, Welsberg and Olang. The track is surrounded by a very beautiful countryside and is diversified due to a few small ascending stretches. When you reach your destination Bruneck, you can take the train back to Innichen. After that you drive the remaining 3 km, which slightly go downhill, from Innichen to the hotel in Vierschach.

SUPERBIKE LIGHT

Total distance: 30 km – altitude difference: 1,100 m
difficulty: 3 (1-5) – ride time: about 2.5 hours (without breaks)

This track leads from the Hotel Löwe via the cyclist path to Innichen and to the ascent towards Wildbad and the Haunoldhütte (mountain cabin) and from the cabin via the forest road to Innichen. There you drive from the south-east end of Innichen via the Burgweg towards Helm – alongside the forest chapel and the restaurant Waldruhe until you reach the Holzerhof. From there you take a small track to the Gattererhof, the fortress Mitterberg and the Negerdorf. You take the Almenweg till the crossing „Klammbach and Nemes" and then you drive downhill towards Sexten/Moos and via the cyclist path towards Innichen/Vierschach back to the Hotel Löwe.

MARKINKELE

Total distance: 45 km – altitude difference: 1,700 m
difficulty: 4+ (1-5) – ride time: about 4 hours (without breaks)

This track leads from the Hotel Löwe via the Jaufenstraße (street) towards the Silvesterkapelle (chapel). From the Silvesterkapelle you take an old military route from the 1st world war towards Strickberg and onwards till the Markinkele (mountain) (2,545 m). The way back leads again to the Silvesterkapelle towards Lachwiesen, downhill to the Haselsberg and to Toblach. The trip ends with a relaxing 7 km bicycle ride on the cyclist path towards Innichen/Vierschach to the Hotel Löwe.
