Winter walking tours around Vierschach in the Hochpustertal

Walking tours in winter are relaxing and healthy. Walk through the magnificent mountainside of the Hochpustertal and enjoy the fresh and pure air. There are a lot of possible walking tours around Innichen, which are ideal for quiet walks or short tours. On these walking tracks, the fresh-fallen snow is shovelled periodically during the whole winter season and therefore you can do nice walking tours in nature.

This year we are going to organize weekly guided snowshoeing tours through the natural park from the beginning of December till the end of March. You can find more information about this and sign up for a tour at the tourism association.

Suggestions for winter walking tours around Innichen

• Jausenstation Stauderhof (1,437 m)
  From the north-east end of Innichen (railway underpass), you reach the starting point of walking track no. 3 via the Kranzhofweg. When you follow this moderately uphill leading track, you reach the Stauderhof. Possible ways of descending are the Innichbergweg or the Kranzhofweg. At the „Mehlhof", which is located west of the Stauderhof, you have a magnificent view towards the “Drei Zinnen”.
  Walking duration: 1 hour
• Uphill track to Toblach (1,337 m)
  From the west end of Innichen, directly in front of the Esso petrol station, leads walking track no. 26 alongside the Klammschlößl to the Hotel Schopfenhof (1,337 m). The way to the Hotel Schopfenhof goes moderately uphill. From now on the track becomes even and leads to Toblach, passing the Haselsberg and several farms on the way there.
  Walk duration: 2 hours
• Innichberg loop road (1,486 m)
  At the north-west end of the village branches the road "Im Bachgang" off the Pustertaler-Straße (street name) to the right and after that it leads to the Innichbergweg. Passing the farms and the restaurant “Bergstube” at the Innichberg, you reach the Mehlhof (view towards the Drei Zinnen) from where track no. 3 leads back to Innichen.
  Walk duration: 2.5 hours
• Starting at the Mehlhof, you reach the Vierschach mountain track, which leads to Vierschach, passing the Restaurant Jaufen and the Hotel Almhof on the way there.
  Walk duration: 4.5 hours
• Walking track to Vierschach (1,154 m)
  From the east end of Innichen (Hotel Villa Stefania or Hotel Brandl), the way leads to Vierschach (2.5 km) alongside the river Drau.
  Walk duration: 40 minutes
• Walking track to Winnebach (1,131 m)
  When you reach Vierschach (like described above), you find the Jaufenstraße (street name) after the railway underpass next to the parking area of the Helmbahnen (chairlifts), and this street leads to the farms at the Vierschachberg (mountain). After you have walked for half an hour, you will reach the junction to Winnebach. You reach Winnebach on the St. Nikolausweg (track name), passing the parish church on the way there.
